I
use DLAM with the children in my resiliency group. These are the toughest children
who are most likely to drop out of school. It has absolutely transformed my
children and music was the way in. They have asked for the video and the song
not once, not twice, but at the beginning of every single group. It has opened
them up to conversation and dialogue with each other. They have taken layers
and layers away in terms of not only times that they may have hurt and bullied
others but times that they have bullied and I just sit in amazement as their
hearts open. I am not even half way through it, but it is the most exciting
thing I have used with these children.

"I am implementing the "Don't Laugh at Me" program along with
other character education activites and conflict resolution techniques. I
am already impressed with some of the results I am seeing... What touched me
the most was a child that had been routinely teased
and had visited with me in the past about the problem. The child came to me
and said the teasing had stopped. The child seemed to be feeling much better
about
the situation and felt the Don't Laugh at Me program was helping in this regard.
Though this will be a long process to create a "Ridicule-Free-Zone" as
it is referred to in the program, at least I feel we are off to a good start.
Thank you for your efforts and for providing our school with this great program."

" I can't tell you how great I think the program is. My son is in first
grade and is new to the school this year. He feels that the implementation of
the Don't
Laugh at Me program helped him to fit in to the group and class even though
he was one of the new kids at school. The kids really got into the program and
could
relate to the feeling of being different, made fun of, or left out at times.
I have noticed a change in my son's attitude since the class and wanted thank
you for your song and for your program."

We have an Autistic Cluster at my school, and during the assembly for fourth
graders, one of our higher functioning students with autism made a profound
statement that made every teacher in the room become very emotionally moved.
I asked students, “What did you see or hear during the video?” Michael
replied, “That all of us are different on the outside, but we are all
the same in spirit on the inside.” There are a lot of thumbs up going
on these days and the compliments are flourishing!
